All of my cakes are made with premium ingredients. 90% of local bakery’s & home bakers say they use buttercream but it’s all shortening. I use real butter & it makes a world of difference in quality!
Below is how long it takes to make cakes from start to finish. Each cake varies in time but this is a pretty good estimate. 14.5 hours or more for each custom cake unless it’s a smash cake which I love to make for the littles!! Wedding cakes are more complex & generally take all week. Time, talent & ingredients are all included in pricing a custom cake. I absolutely love what I do & value my work. Brainstorming design & Sketching out design-1-2hrs (varies)
Shopping trip for supplies (multiple stores)-1.5-2hrs
Prepping parchment cut outs & pans- 25 mins
Scaling out ingredients for batter & buttercream-1.5 hour
Mixing, measuring out & pouring batter-45mins
Baking, constructing cake board/cutting dowel supports-45mins
(bake time varies by size of each cake)
Leveling & wrapping cakes-20mins
Making buttercream-35mins per batch
Making fillings/compote-20mins
Stacking & filling each cake-30miins
Icing each cake-15mins
Doweling cake-15-35mins depending on how many tiers
Stacking tiers-15mins
Mixed meringue batter, filled bags & pipped cookies-45mins
Meringue Cookie bake time-2hrs
Melt dark chocolate, cool it & dip meringues-25mins
Make chocolate/white chocolate toffee bark-15mins
Make white chocolate ganache, cool it & drizzle-30mins
Decorating & placing chocolate in design on cake-30mins
Making fondant-25mins
Covering cake in fondant & smoothing-20mins (varies)
Piping buttercream flowers-1hr
Coloring buttercream or fondant-1hr varies with quantity of colors
Placing buttercream flowers, scrolling & piping script-1-2hrs
Creating fondant accents & cut outs-1-2hrs varies
